The BANKSETA is currently seeking persons with disabilities to participate in a one year learnership in the banking sector. Examples of disabilities are partially blind, pollio, paraplegics & quadriplegics, epilepsy, and diabetes.

The important criteria for the applicants to have is a 3 year tertiary qualification OR a valid matric certificate. Applicants must have a clear credit and criminal record. Interested applicants must be immediately available with no pending work or tertiary study obligations.

Business World is in need of 7 disabled females for a learnership in Entrepreneurship.

The details for the learnership are:

  • They need to have a matric or at least a std 9 (grade 11)
  • Literate in English
  • Doctors note proving disability
  • 21-30 years of Age (preferably)
  • The learnership is for one year. Stipend is R1500
  • The program in NQF 4 new venture creation (entrepreneurship)
  • Lectures will be once a week in Pietermaritzburg
  • The company requires 4 learners to attend work every month end and is based in Howick. They will be rotated.
  • A travel allowance is included.

The New Venture Creation Program is an NQF level 4 program with 149 credits.

  • Each Module is conducted over two days within a two week period.
  • Lectures are on Saturdays from 8.30 – 15.30.
  • We do not do examinations, we assess in the classroom with activities, an assignment and a practical which makes up a portfolio.
  • You have two weeks to submit a completed portfolio

RECRUITMENT FOR INTERNSHIP/LEARNERSHIP & PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
IN THE NORTHERN CAPE

Disabled People SA Northern Cape in partnership with TQM-SA and the Service Seta under the leadership of Dr Sihle Moon has embarked on a serious drive to create opportunities for the empowerment of persons with disabilities through skills development initiatives such as learnerships, internships, bursaries and skills development programmes.

The objective of these initiatives are essentially aimed at enhancing the employability of persons with disabilities in the labour market in line with the transformational objectives of our Government as outlined in various legislations with specific reference to the Employment Equity Act.  Through this programme we certainly hope to have assisted employers especially within the public sector in improving the employment equity profile in respect of the 2% target for persons with disabilities. The objective of this roll-out in the Northern Cape is to gain work experience in accordance with our Graduates with Disabilities Internship Programme.

In its endeavour to achieve the above objective the Service Seta has launched an internship programme placing unemployed graduates with disabilities at host employers to gain workplace experience to improve their employability in the labour market.  This Graduates with Disabilities Internship Programme was launched in Limpopo on the 18th April 2012 and currently 100 unemployed graduates with disabilities have been successfully placed at various host employers across the Province of Limpopo.

The minimum criterion for participation in this Internship programme is as follows:

  • They should be unemployed
  • Have a University degree / Diploma or
  • FET qualification, or
  • SSETA accredited qualification

The Services Seta has undertaken to provide the following support and funding for this programme.
1. A stipend of R3000.00 per learner per month for a period of 12 months
2. A R500.00 transport allowance per learner
3. Procurement of assistive devices for those learners that requires it
4. Vetting of all host employers to ensure that the workplaces complies with accessibility requirements and the reasonable accommodation needs of the learners with disabilities.
5. Provide disability sensitivity training for the mentors/coaches of the learners.

Progression is an organisation which assists people with disabilities to enter the open labour market either through learnership or employment opportunities.
Progression was appointed in May 2004 as an Employment and Skills Development Lead Employer (ESDLE) and in March 2009 as an Employment and Skills Development Agency (ESDA) by the Department of Labour, to implement learnerships specifically for people with disabilities.
Progression has a 10 year track record of successfully implementing learnerships and placement services for people with disabilities and is a Level 2 B-BBEE contributor.
