The Media24-THISABILITY Newspaper Skills Programme is in its second year running. The aim is to attract different voices from across South Africa, equip the voices with basic journalism skills from media trainers, Frayintermedia. The project, kindly sponsored by Media24, is managed by Lizeka Mda, a media practitioner with vast experience spanning over 30 years. Each year, six candidates are selected to participate. In the coming issues, we will hear testimonies of each of the six candidates as they share on the benefits of the programme.
Media24 and THISABILITY Newspaper are dedicating resources to enable empowered participation in the mainstreaming discourse where different views, opinions and stories are shared to motivate and inform the general public. A lot of enabling environments are being made possible by a platform of statutes that promote inclusion and self-expression. At the end of it all, human rights are observed for persons with disabilities to enjoy general life offerings.
