South Africa, get ready to run for a cause! The Wings for Life World Run returns on May 4, 2025, uniting runners and wheelchair participants from across the globe for its 12th edition. In this unique race, there is no traditional finish line; instead, a Virtual Catcher Car will be on your heels, and it’s up to you to stay ahead for as long as you can.
Where to Join:
- Cape Town: Start at Vlei Road by Green Point Athletics Track, with a stunning route through Green Point Park and the stadium forecourt.
- Centurion: Meet at the ARC farm in Irene for a 6km lap on tarred roads, with plenty of space to test your endurance.
Both locations have refreshment stations stocked with water and Red Bull to keep you hydrated and energised throughout the run.
Inclusive and inspiring:
In the previous race, a record-breaking 265 818 runners and wheelchair participants ran side by side in an inclusive event that celebrated the spirit of resilience. Wheelchair participants must use everyday wheelchairs, ensuring that everyone can participate regardless of specialised equipment.
Why Participate?
100% of your entry fee and donations go toward spinal cord research, helping fund breakthroughs to improve lives. As one Red Bull ambassador, Sandile Mkhize, puts it, “Over the years, it has been amazing and heartwarming to see the entries of participants grow, and to reach the numbers we have is nothing short of amazing. What I hope people do not forget is that that money raised goes towards finding a cure for spinal cure injuries, and finding a cure will change lives for the better.”
