Rustenburg – Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is the most common preventable form of mental disability in the world and occur in children of mothers who misuse alcohol during their pregnancies.
Rustenburg Skool vir Buitengewone Onderwys (BGO), who has several learners with FAS, aims to raise awareness for this cause. While FAS awareness day is celebrated annually on 15 October, BGO will help raise awareness on by hosting a funky sock Friday on 14 October. To spread the word, they will be selling stickers for R10 each that can proudly be worn with funky socks.
In the past, BGO has received mass support from local schools and businesses and they once again would like to invite their supporters to join in the effort to raise awareness. This will also serve as a fundraising campaign for the school.
Buy your sticker, wear your funky socks, and share information about this totally preventable mental disability.
