Durban, KwaZulu-Natal — Nokusa Support for Disabled People is calling on government departments, municipalities, private companies, media organisations and other stakeholders to support its Nokusa Take a Disabled Child to Work This November 2026 campaign, an initiative aimed at empowering young persons with disabilities through workplace exposure, learning and inclusion.
The campaign aims to give five to ten young people with disabilities an opportunity to experience a professional working environment, meet industry professionals, explore career paths and learn about employment opportunities. Participating organisations are encouraged to host the young people for one to two hours during November.
Beyond workplace exposure, the campaign seeks to challenge disability-related stigma, promote equal opportunities and remind society that young people with disabilities deserve equal access to education, employment and opportunities to achieve their dreams.

R100,000 FUNDRAISING DRIVE TO SUPPORT VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES
As part of the campaign, Nokusa aims to raise R100,000 to purchase essential disability equipment and personal-care products for disadvantaged individuals and schoolchildren.
The fundraising initiative will support the purchase of ten standard wheelchairs, two electric wheelchairs, walking sticks and hearing aids for people with disabilities who need assistance.
The campaign will also support a sanitary pads drive for Grade 6 and Grade 7 girls in primary schools. This year, the organisation is expanding its personal-care initiative to include boys, who will receive perfumes and roll-ons to promote personal hygiene, confidence and dignity.
Through these efforts, the organisation hopes to address some of the everyday challenges faced by disadvantaged families while promoting inclusion, dignity and equal access to essential resources.

MENZI NXUMALO: ACTOR, ENTREPRENEUR AND DISABILITY ACTIVIST
Menzi Nxumalo is an actor, media personality, entrepreneur, motivational speaker and disability rights activist. Alongside his entertainment career, he is the founder of Nokusa Support for Disabled People, using his public profile to raise awareness about disability rights and the challenges faced by persons with disabilities.
His work brings together entertainment, advocacy and community development, with a focus on challenging stereotypes, promoting representation and creating opportunities for disadvantaged individuals.
Through the November campaign, Menzi and his team hope to inspire organisations to open their doors to young people with disabilities and demonstrate that disability should never be a barrier to ambition, talent or opportunity.
“Inclusion begins when we create opportunities for everyone to participate. By welcoming a young person with a disability into your workplace, you can help inspire confidence, open doors and change perceptions.”
CALL FOR PARTNERSHIPS AND DONATIONS
The organisation is inviting businesses, government departments, municipalities, media organisations, schools and members of the public to support the campaign through workplace participation, financial contributions, donations of disability equipment and personal-care products, and other forms of sponsorship.
Every contribution will help the organisation reach more people, provide essential support and create meaningful opportunities for young people with disabilities.
